What EPUB Reader can do
Made for the file that will not open
Windows has no built-in EPUB reader, and installing an app just to check one book is a lot to ask. Drop the file here instead: it opens in the browser tab you already have, with the chapter list from the book itself.
This page reads; the desktop remembers
Here the book opens in a readable column instead of stretching across a wide monitor, and you move through it by chapter. Open it on the desktop and the reader keeps your place, your font (serif or sans) and a text size between 15 and 26, plus a sepia or dark page, bookmarks and search across the whole book. All of it lives on this device: there is no account, and nothing follows you to another phone.
What it does not open, and why we say so
Books bought with DRM (Kindle, most store purchases) are encrypted, and MOBI or AZW3 files use a different format. This reader opens DRM-free EPUB and FB2 and tells you plainly when a file is one of the others, instead of showing you an empty page.

Is my book uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened and rendered in your browser. It never leaves your device, and we cannot see what you read.
Can I open a Kindle or DRM-protected book?
No. DRM-protected books are encrypted and only the store’s own apps can open them. The reader detects DRM and says so rather than failing silently.
Does it remember where I stopped?
The reader on the nopa desktop does, on this device and this browser; this page itself does not save a position. There is no account and no sync, so a different phone or laptop starts from the beginning.
What file types work?
DRM-free EPUB (.epub) and FB2 (.fb2 and .fb2.zip). MOBI and AZW3 are not supported.
