What Background Remover can do

Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 25 MB and the cut runs right here, in your browser. The AI model, BRIA RMBG-1.4, downloads once with a progress bar and stays cached: about 44 MB on a phone, on a metered connection or without WebGPU, about 170 MB for the more precise version on a computer with WebGPU. Every later photo starts at once. The portrait and product-photo pages run the same model. They differ in advice, not in the cut.
Eight backgrounds from one cut
When the cut is done, keep it transparent or put the subject on a blurred copy of its own photo, white, light grey, light blue, blue, black or a warm gradient. Switching is instant and does not run the AI again: the expensive part, deciding what is subject and what is background, is already done.
Up to 15 photos at once, and the hardest edge
Pick two to fifteen photos and each comes back as a transparent PNG, all in one ZIP; backgrounds are chosen one photo at a time. Fine hair against a background of the same colour is the hardest case for any cut-out model, this one included, so check that edge before you download. Very large photos are scaled down to fit the browser, and the result says so.

Do I need to open nopa to get the result?
No. The background is removed and the PNG downloads right on this page. Opening nopa is optional: the full app keeps every result in Files and hands it to the other tools.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The photo is cut out in this browser tab. The only download is the model itself, from Hugging Face, the first time.
What image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP up to 25 MB each, up to 15 at a time. A HEIC from an iPhone has to become a JPG first. The HEIC to JPG page does that.
What license covers the AI model?
The cutout model is BRIA RMBG-1.4, which BRIA AI licenses for non-commercial use; commercial use needs a separate license from BRIA AI. Where it cannot load, a lighter fallback model (MODNet, Apache-2.0) runs instead. The terms are on the Licenses page, linked in the footer.
