When 500 KB is the right target
Email attachments, document scans, marketplace listings, and most upload forms are comfortable with half a megabyte. At this size a typical phone photo keeps good detail — faces and text stay readable.
Quality first, then size
The tool starts from the highest quality and only reduces it until the file fits under 500 KB. Most photos do not need to be scaled down at this target; if scaling was needed, the result line says so.

Is 500 KB small enough for email?
Yes — even a dozen photos at 500 KB fit a typical attachment limit. If a form asks for less, use the 200 KB target.
Will faces and text stay sharp?
At 500 KB a normal phone photo keeps good detail on screen. Heavy crops or very large panoramas lose more — check the preview before downloading.
What if my photo is already under 500 KB?
The tool tells you it is already small enough and does not re-compress it for nothing. You can still pick a smaller target or the quality mode.
