What Compress Image to 200 KB can do
Where the 200 KB limit comes from
Many application forms (government portals, university admissions, job sites, ID and visa applications) cap photo uploads at 200 KB to keep their systems fast. The exact limit is usually written next to the upload field; if yours differs, pick another target on this page.
What happens to the photo
The tool searches for the best quality that fits under 200 KB and scales the image down only when quality alone cannot get there. For a 12-megapixel phone photo it cannot: expect a picture 1,280 to 2,048 px wide. The new width is shown, so you can check it against the form’s requirements.
If the result looks too soft
The tool already used the highest quality that fits under 200 KB. Crop away background in your phone’s photo editor before you compress, so fewer pixels share the budget. Pick 500 KB only if the form allows it.

The form also limits dimensions in pixels. What do I do?
The result line shows the output width whenever the image was scaled down. Compare it with the form’s pixel requirement. This page cannot set an exact width or height: it only scales a photo down when the size target demands it.
Which format should I pick for a form?
JPG, because almost every form accepts it. The page already starts on JPG, even when your photo is a WebP. WebP is often smaller, but many portals reject it.
