What WhatsApp QR Generator can do
The link behind the code
What gets encoded is a plain wa.me link: spaces, brackets, dashes, and the leading plus are stripped, so +1 (555) 010-0199 becomes wa.me/15550100199. The country code is not optional — a local eight-digit number without it will open the wrong chat or none at all. The number also has to be registered on WhatsApp; the app answers a link to an unregistered number with an error, not a chat.
The prefilled message is a draft, not a form
Your text rides along as a ?text= parameter and lands in the sender’s input box, where they can edit it or delete it before hitting send. That makes it useful as a starting line rather than as data you can rely on: "Hi, I would like to book a table for Friday" saves someone typing and tells you which sticker they scanned. Keep it to one sentence — a long draft looks like spam in a fresh chat.
Where a chat QR beats a phone number
On a shop window, a menu, a delivery van, or the last slide of a talk: people point a camera instead of copying eleven digits into a new contact. What it cannot do is invite anyone to a group — a group invite is a different kind of link (chat.whatsapp.com/…), which you can turn into a code on the plain QR generator page.

Questions
Which number format works?
International format with country code, e.g. +1 555 0100. Spaces and punctuation are cleaned up for you; a number without the country code is the usual reason a code opens the wrong chat.
Can I prefill a message?
Yes — add an optional message; it appears in the chat when the code is scanned. In nopa you can also bulk-generate codes from CSV.
Can I make a QR for a WhatsApp group?
Not from this page — it builds chat links for one number. Copy the group invite link from WhatsApp and make a code from it on the plain QR generator instead.
The number changed — can I edit the printed code?
No. The number is part of the image, so a new number means generating and reprinting. If the code goes somewhere expensive to replace, point it at a landing page you control instead.
