What Convert PNG to JPG can do

How to use

Choose a PNG; one control appears, a quality slider at 92%. JPG cannot store transparency, so anything transparent is painted white on this page. When the image has to sit on a colour other than white, convert it on the desktop, where the backdrop is yours to pick.

When to choose this format

JPG works well for photos and often weighs less, but does not support transparency.

How much smaller

For a photo that was saved as a PNG the drop is dramatic — several times smaller is normal, megabytes down to a few hundred KB. For a screenshot or flat-colour graphic the saving is far more modest, and JPG smears the edges of text and solid blocks while doing it; WebP is the better trade there. Below roughly 80% on the slider, the compression starts to show.

Why forms still ask for JPG specifically

JPG is the one image format nothing rejects: government and visa portals, university admissions, job boards, print labs, older content systems, and email clients that quietly strip anything modern. When an upload page names a format at all, it names JPG. That, rather than file size, is usually the real reason to convert a PNG.

Limitations

Transparent areas become a solid background color you can choose before converting.

Questions

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG does not support transparency — transparent pixels are filled with a background color you can pick before converting.

What if I have a lot of images?

Up to 30 PNGs at once on this page, all at one quality setting, back as a single ZIP. Transparency is filled with white here; the desktop is where you choose a different backdrop.

Which formats are supported?

This page converts PNG to JPG. Other pairs — JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, SVG — each have their own tool, gathered in the related tools on this page.
