What Compare Word Documents can do
When Word’s own Compare is not at hand
Word has Review, Compare, and on a computer with Word it does the job. This page is for the other times: a phone, a Mac without Office, a contract that came back in a chat while you are away from your desk. Two files in, the changed words out, in a browser tab.
Only the words are compared
Headings, list items and table rows each become a line of their own, a table row with its cells split by |, so a changed amount in a price table is found like any other word. Formatting is not compared: a word turned bold, a new font or a moved picture does not show.
Tracked changes count as accepted
If a file still carries tracked changes, its insertions are read as kept and its deletions as gone, and the page says so under the fields. To see everything the other side changed, compare the file you sent with the one that came back.
The files stay on your device
Both documents are read in this tab; nopa has no server that could receive them. That matters for what people compare: contracts, offers, policies. Download report saves the changes as an HTML file you can keep or send.

Questions
Does it open .doc files?
No, only .docx. Open an old .doc in Word or LibreOffice and save it as .docx first. Text files (.txt, .md) open as they are.
Can I compare a Word document with a PDF?
Yes: open the Word file in one field and the PDF in the other. The PDF is read the way Compare PDF reads it, paragraphs joined back across lines and pages, so a different layout is not a change. A scanned PDF has no text to compare.
Can I edit the text before comparing?
Yes. The document’s text lands in the field and stays editable: delete a cover page or a signature block, and the comparison updates as you type.
Is there a size limit?
A .docx up to 20 MB opens, and a PDF up to 100 MB. Pictures make up most of a large file, so a long contract is far below that. Text files open up to 2 MB.
Are my documents uploaded?
No. Both files are read and compared in this tab, and nothing is sent anywhere.
